9th European Functional Drug Screening Symposium 2013

The 9th FDSS Users Meeting once again reached its goal: the promotion of our system being used in different applications by our long term customers and the sharing of experiences with our new potential customers.

After a general introduction of Hamamatsu Photonics, the new options (hardware and software) of the FDSS series were presented. Furthermore the new application of the ion sensitive dye on stem cells was introduced. All of these presentations were followed by the participants who considered all subjects useful, pragmatic and technically informative.

Many interesting questions arose from the scientific presentations covering diverse applications as varied as new screening methods for GPCRs, ion channels and cell-based assays. All of these speeches were welcomed by the attendees who appreciated the scientific high level content.

To briefly describe the event's successful outcome, according to the participants' feedback (42 people, Hamamatsu not included), it was concluded that this event was a good opportunity for users to have their questions answered and to meet the Japanese experts, who can help them in their projects. It was agreed that the subjects focused on were very interesting, of high level and well varied. The good atmosphere and warm welcome were also nicely highlighted.

8th European FDSS Users Meeting 2012

The 8th FDSS Users Meeting was held on June 14th in Sanofi Chilly in France under the supervision of Dr. Oliver Chao and Olivier Curet (both from Sanofi Aventis).

Our wish this year was to maintain the scientific quality that was achieved last year and we were delighted to learn that the results exceeded our expectations. This meeting presented speakers from fields as different as cardiomyocytes, stem cells, BRET or 1536 implementations.

We are especially proud of this year’s record attendance with over 55 participants (not including Hamamatsu), which gathered not only users and potential users in academia and pharmaceutical fields, but also collaborators such as kit and software providers. We used this opportunity to present other products, especially the NanoZoomer Series, thanks to Mrs. Trinh-Xuan Kramer’s introduction of Hamamatsu's System Division. Mr. Mizuguchi and Mr. Horai from Hamamatsu Photonics K.K., Japan presented the latest developments in the FDSS range and also to show HPK’s support and commitment to the FDSS community.

7th European FDSS Users Meeting 2011

The 7th FDSS Users Meeting was held at Janssen Pharmaceutica in Belgium under the supervision of Dr. Miroslav Cik, on June 9th, 2011.

It was Hamamatsu's wish to make of this reunion a successful scientific event and we were delighted that, according to those attending, this aim was achieved with 6 speakers covering different applications and sharing their knowledge and expertise. We also featured, for the first time, a Poster corner where the participants could learn more about our partners and new applications. Everyone used this time together to share their experiences, create new communications between companies and made this day an open minded scientific conference.

As is our tradition; we gathered all participants and the Hamamatsu Team for an informal dinner at the Brussels Atomium to show the breath taking views across Brussels and to deepen new links made during the day.
